Robert Gregory works for South London and Maudsley Mental NHS Foundation Trust (SLAM), Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). Within CAMHS he works with a service called SEaDS; Support, Engagement and Delivery in schools as a CAMHS Practitioner. He is also a Registered Mental Health Nurse with postgraduate training in Child and Family Mental Health and Family Therapy.
SEaDS provide a therapeutic treatment service within The Gipsy Hill Federation. The general criteria for referral to CAMHS are concerns from school or parents regarding a child’s emotional wellbeing, which may include low mood, anxiety or behavioural problems. Once parental consent has been given, the work involves helping children to think more positively about their thoughts and feelings and offering advice to parents and staff around effective strategies to deploy. If the problem presents as severe, children can be referred to a more specialist service.
In addition to working directly with children and families Robert also offers advice and training to staff and can provide parenting groups to allow parents to meet with other parents to discuss a variety of parenting issues.
Parent are able to meet with Robert if they have any queries or concerns even before their child is formally referred. This allows parents to hopefully be reassured about the nature of the service.
