Gipsy Hill Federation has a fantastic variety of support for children who may have additional Speech and Language needs. This may be in a way that supports the whole class, in a group setting or individual work.
All schools work with NHS speech and language therapists. They mainly work with children who have statement of special needs, who have an Education Health and Care Plan or for whom we are looking to apply for an Education Health and Care Plan. These therapists work directly with children and their 1:1s, setting individual programmes and targets, and delivering support and training for staff in the school.
Gipsy Hill Federation is in an extremely fortunate position to work with two independent speech and language therapists as well. This means that, in addition to the support from the NHS, we are able to offer support to more children with a wider range of needs. These therapists work closely with a team of SEN practitioners, who may deliver 1:1 therapy sessions working on specific targets with the children but also work to support adults in class to use strategies that support the development of Speech and Language.
