Headteacher's welcome

Gipsy Hill

Elm Wood Primary School is a 2 form entry school based in West Norwood, South London.  In 2008 we hard federated with Kingswood Primary School to form Gipsy Hill Federation, and our school is rated as 'Outstanding' by Ofsted.  Please explore our stories below and view our section links for more information about us.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Elm Wood Primary school and our school website. Elm Wood is a happy place where children thrive, and are inquisitive and confident learners. We have very high expectations of our students, and of our staff. We treat every child as an individual and value the unique personality they bring to our school.

I am delighted to share with you our whole school vision and to provide an additional platform to communicate the successes and opportunities available to your children.

Elm Wood Primary School has been part of Gipsy Hill Federation since 2008, contributing to and benefitting from the wealth of support available.  We believe that an inclusive and engaging curriculum, high expectations and dedicated staff are key to providing children with a safe learning environment, where they are confident to undertake challenges and become independent learners.

"The school provides a friendly, supportive environment where pupils gain confidence and independence quickly." January 2011 Ofsted Report

Elm Wood is part of a thriving, vibrant community where staff and families work together to provide the very best education for children.  We pride ourselves in our ability to uphold high standards and our commitment to the development of every child who is welcomed into our school.
